Happy Thirsty Thursday all! Why is it thirsty Thursday? Well, we are going to talk about water, mainly our lack of it. In the video below, our friend Kelly Starrett(Mobility WOD), talks about water consumption during the summer months. This is great information, but what about the winter months?
It is getting colder, just ask the 530am class during their warm-up run. With the cooler temperatures, we don't sweat as much, or do we? It is vital to keep our water intake levels up even during the winter. K-Star has an awesome formula for determining how much water we should be consuming, as it varies for each person. To make a "blanket" statement like, drink 8 glasses of water a day, doesn't take into account individual variables. While 8 8oz glasses of water a day is a good starting point, we should all evaluate our own personal intake level and strive to acheive that mark every day. Remember, after a night's sleep, your body is already in a state of dehydration. Especially if you have a wife like mine who is ALWAYS cold. Then you sweat even more through the night, with 50 blankets on the bed. I love you, Jess!
There is a ton of info out there, so research it! I also recommend the trial version. That is, try drinking more water and see how you feel. Yes, you will go to the bathroom more often(annoying), but how much more will your recovery and performance be affected?
Post any/all thoughts to comments. Mark your run times and WOD loads to BTWB.
